Bringing us out of winter and towards spring we have our collaborative brew with York based giants Brew York. Together we cooked up a warming West Coast Red Ale using a range of speciality malts to create a glowing hue with a smooth, chewy and incredibly quaffable body. This beer had almost all of its hop additions in the kettle during the boil and whirlpool. Both Chinook and Simcoe bring an abundance of rich sticky hop oils to the party resulting in a spike of bitterness and tons of dank piney spice.

Can at home in the garden, 16th April 2020, another lockdown BBQ. Pours a brown red beer, quite clear. Aroma is malty, pine, resinous. Taste is malt, bitter pine, caramel, pithy and bitter, some sweetness. It’s a very good hoppy, red ale

Can from The Made Inn Ashford and drunk at home continues my west coast afternoon. Deep ruby colour lasting beige head. Now I will admit I do like a west coast red. It's like a west coast ipa but with more interesting malt which gives you different fruit flavours and just a fuller more satisfying beer but still with all that west coast hop goodness. Good fruit dark red fruits grapefruit. I just love this beer. So much flavour depth and balance. Loved it.

At home shared with my bro over a video chat! Pours a lovely clear red with a bit of head. Aroma is malty and sweet with loads of caramel. Medium body. Flavour is malty and sweet, lots of caramel. Medium bitterness with a lovely herbal hops profile. Finishes bittersweet and caramelly. Great stuff! Rare to find nice craft red ales, and this one is excellent!
