IMPERIAL STOUT AGED IN MAPLE SYRUP BOURBON BARRELS W/ WALNUT These barrels have been through the ringer! They started with bourbon, moved on to maple syrup, and finally they’re finishing off with our delicious Imperial Stout base, brewed in collaboration with the Chicago-based brewery Mikerphone. All those layers are the perfect blend of Americana and Canadiana, finished with an additional dose of that sweet syrup we all love, and toasted walnuts for a classic pairing.

Pours black, small to medium small, tanned head with a surprisingly good stability. scent is fairly sharp, roasty, even a tad ashy, medium mild maple. fairly 'dry'. Taste is full, roasty, fairly dry, mild maple, complex, kindof like an aged factor (in a good way ) though the can is fairly fresh. Mild port-like qualities you might say, though there aint a touch of port here. bourbon of course is vanished, maple shows, but remains gentle. very layered. not a pastry stout to me (though I guess thats what they call it when you add maple syrup ) since it's not one dimentional, heavy hitter that showcase only it's ingredients. This showcases a pretty great base, with a nice embrace of the maple, wood, and brewing skill.

Sample, thanks oh6gdx! Black, small brown head. Aroma of coffee, caramel, bourbon and maple syrup, Sweetr with full body and dense, rounded mouthfeel. Licorice and coffee covered in a thin layer of maple syrup topped with fierce bourbon heat. Actually not overly sweet and instead harmonious and flavourful.

Can at home. Opaque black color, virtually no head. Smell and taste malts, roasty a bit, maple some. Lingering roastyness. Somewhat sticky texture, average to decent body, average carbonation. Okay.

330ml can at Gavel, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a clear black colour with a short-lived frothy tan head. The aroma is roasty malt, big maple syrup. The flavour is moderate sweet, with a smooth, rich, roasty, sweet maple syrup, light subtle walnut palate. Full bodied with soft carbonation. This beer is all about the maple syrup, but no complaints from me.
