The Gulp is a river in Belgium. This gulp has also been flowing down my palate, quite full-bodied too. Lacks a bit of flavour but mainly hoppy notes with a hint of fruit that are more than palatable.

Cask at Bull & Stirrup, Chester. Pours a slightly hazy golden brown with minimal off-white head and good lacing. There’s nuts and autumn fruits in the aroma. In the mouth there is a little sweetness at first before bitterness comes through to dominate with a creamy texture (but not overly bitter). Flavour has traditional hops and malts at first with hints of ginger and herbs coming later. Bitterness lasts into the finish. This is a decent old school English style IPA.

Cask-conditioned at the V Shed (JDW), Bristol 29 November 2022. Golden in colour with a tight, white, head that left plenty of lacing down the glass. A touch of leafy hops, sweet rich tea malts, some citrus fruit character and gentle finish. Fine.

Handpull cask at the Queens Road Tap, Leicester. Brownish orange/gold and clear with a small but thick beige head. Light aroma of malt, tea and orange peel. It All comes together in the Taste with fruity orange peel hop and biscuity malt swirl in a perfect balance to the long slightly tannic finish. Orange oil and strong iced tea in the aftertaste. A keeper
