As it warms up, the Kerzu (December in Breton) is adorned with fruity, cherry and black fruit nuances. When we put our lips to it, we necessarily come back to it. A gourmet stout that can be left to age for up to three years to vary the pleasures. It is a complex beer, round, tasty and long in the mouth, with a strong character without being too alcoholic.

330ml bottle from Saveur-Biere.fr. Pours dark with small tan head. Aroma is dark malts, dark treacle. Taste is smooth, balanced, cocoa, chocolate malts, light coffee. Flavours seem well integrated. Good stout from a new brewery for me.

Botled. A black beer with a dark brown head. The aroma has notes of chocolate, roasted malt, and herbs. The flavor is sweet with an acidic edge and notes of roasted malt, wood, and dark bitter chocolate, leading to a dry roasted finish.

Bottled. Near black, small beige head. Aroma of chocolate and star fruit. Mid sweet with mediunm-full body and rounded mouthfeel. Chocolate and caramel with notes of coffee. Mid bitter finish with more coffee. A solid all around well made stout.

From my girlfriend who got this in Paris: Pours black with a really nice dark brown head. Aroma is dark chocolate, roasted malts, and burnt bread. Taste is sort of bittersweet, with plenty of chocolate and a nice amount of hops. Body is not too heavy, making for easy drinking. Well-balanced. Nice to see that the French have figured out stouts.

Bottle at home in London. Pours black-brown with a big, beige foam head. Lots of ashy roast on the nose, baking cocoa. Light to medium sweet flavor, plenty of burnt malts, a bit of earth, baking cocoa, alcohol. Light to medium bodied with fine, creamy carbonation. Fairly bitter to finish, lots of baking cocoa, burnt malts, burnt grass, earth, light warmth, burnt sugars. Overall it seems a little thin. There is some interesting character, but the depth of flavor is a little shallow and the bitterness seems a bit out of balance. OK.
