Pour is a cloudy orange with a small white head. Aroma is a nice mix of citrus and hops. Flavor is very bitter with some hops and a peppery spice that leaves its mark on the tounge. Decent for a APA, all the qualities and goes down very easy on a warm or cold night.

Golden with lots of suspended floaties and a white head that leaves a slight surface film. Aroma is malty and weak... maybe a bit of lemon peel. Flavor is crisp, light and slightly bitter at the end. Citrus and bitter are reminiscent of grapefruit peel. I wouldn’t go so far as to say it’s poorly done, but it really doesn’t excell at anything.

Bottled. Rated "live" as I drink it." Certainly the palest ale I’ve run across in a long time. Colored like a pale lager, with a big fluffy head. The usual suspension of unfiltered particulates, like in other Bell’s beers. Now this is certainly not in the same class as an Alpha King, but shuld it be in the same category? Can’t be sure. Plae malt taste is overwhelmed by big spicy hoppiness. It is pretty good. Just needs a little more balance. And there’s a kind of skunky smell that needs to be addressed. Perhaps best enjoyed in a cold ice fishing house.

I have never seen so much yeast and sediment in a beer; so much I think it is effecting the taste. It looks like a wit. Bitter hop aroma of a high quality pils. Flavor is one dimensional hops, again like a good pilsner. Very light citrus flavors; lemon sourness. Lots of hop bitterness.

Paid $1.39 for a 12-oz single. One word to describe my overall experience here: unimpressed. My biggest complaint was the lack of flavor. It seemed to be bitter without much else. Nothing defined here... kinda like wanting getting some good french fries, putting them in the fridge overnight, then heating them in the microwave the next day.

Basically the same as Bells Pale. Pours cloudy yellow-orange, with a thin white head. There is quite a bit of small particulate matter floating in the ale (much like the pale ale). Flavor is dominated by hops and the characteristic yeasty mustiness (this isn't a bad thing) found in both this and Bells Pale. Overall a toned-down version of the Pale, and rated accordingly.

2002 and 2004 bottles. not bad, not great. I guess they made what they were trying to make. A little bit too light for me, and a strange bubbly/bitter taste that dosent belong. Could use some more hops, too grainy of a character. A touch more sweetness wouldnt hurt either. Has a good deep yellow color, with some moderate haziness and a huge foamy white head. Lots of sediment floaties. Aroma is dry, papery, touch of citrus, typical apa aroma, though lacking the caramel sweetness.
