Wetherspoon Spring Beer Festival 2019. Cask @ Hedley Verity, Leeds. Dark reddy-brown with a creamy head. Itโs stronger tasting than expected with its texture very palatable. Thereโs some light dry dark malts, which subdue a background fruitiness.

500ml bottle: BB 15th May 2021. Shared with my son at home on 29th Oct 2020. Port Ruby Red coloured, decent beige head on both glasses. Malty front with a slight Rye feel to the semi-sweetness and aroma. Hints of dark fruits as the beer warmed a little.

Cask handpull at Camterbury Spoons. Black beer deep ruby highlights. Lasting tan head. Decent black ipa. Some dark fruits. OK. .

On cask at the Standing Order. Appearance - dark brown with orange chinks. Nice fawn head. Nose - chocolate, possibly pine. Looking for citrus. Taste - orange and pine with dark chocolate going into molasses. Palate - medium bodied with a crunchy yet somehow creamy middle. Dry crunchy finish Overall - good.

Cask at PoW, Farnborough. Low key herbal hoppy aroma. Dark, cola brown in the light. Frothy beige head. Light bitter. Some roast. Herbs. All rather low key. Medium bodied. Slick with a creamy residual mouthfeel. Soft-flat carbonation. Abrupt finish - a buzz of astrigency. Puts me in mind of a hopped up mild. But decent enough.

Half-pint, cask ale at Westbourne. Covering fawn-coloured head, solid lacing, coal black in the glass. Aroma of earthy malts with ripe fruity moments. Honeyed sweet fruity taste alongside impact of grainy malts. Dark fruity ending slightly roasted. Medium bodied. Satisfying. (Swansea 01.10.2018).

Cask at Fellows, Morton and Clayton, Nottingham on 28th September 2018. Dark sepia with disappearing foam and scant lacing. Roasty, malty aroma with freshly ground coffee. Roasty malts and coffee flavours in-mouth, and a slightly sweet roasty finish. Full bodied with an engaging texture.
