Cooling out on the dock, jamming tunes and popping tops, waiting for da rod to bend. Gist of the grist is mellow at 4.20% ABV, laying down the base to showcase the blazin’ Amarillo hop hash sunset.
The star of the show here is the hops, specifically the hop hash! We kept the malt bill light to allow the hops to shine through.
We does this sucker with a boatload of Amarillo Hop Hash. Pungent with floral, tropical citrus fruit flavors and the hop hash gives it that one of a kind chewy, gooey, resiny mouthfeel. As the chaser, we are giving it a hefty dry hop to enhance the potent aromas. Ahtanum gives it orange and grapefruit tones, Crystal for a little kick of spiciness, and El Dorado bringing some pear and watermelon characteristics.

Solid dose of carbonated Amarillo juice, citric and resinous as shit, yet lacking any decent malt base to back it up. Starts with a pungent green herbaceousness, then rolls into an odd, metallic bitter middle. Stays bitter, finishes with a dry, fruity pop, yet never feels complex enough for the hop bonanza squished into the brew. Decent for the style, I guess.

Single bottle from Osco. Best by 2/8/17. Well, this is surely a big snoot of hops. The catbox smell of amarillos, plus some citrus and and mean ol’ hop bitterness. Yet the beer pours a pretty clear light gold with now hop bits or haze, and a thick head that quickly dwindles away. Taste is a further smack of hoppiness: citrus, pine, some pineapple, and God knows what else. It is like brewing beer with the scrapings from a hop compressor. Or the bottom of your bong bowl, if you really want to keep up the pot references.

Pours a yellow from a bottle. Kind of a tropical fruit thing going on in the nose and the mouth, but too watery and a somewhat metallic/bitter finish make it rather unpalatable. Meh.

Actually very hoppy. Lots of fresh pine here. Golden pour with good head and lacing. Bitter finish, but quite drinkable. Nice session IPA here. Bottle in mixed six pack at work.

From a 12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear copper with an off white head. Fruity nose. Flavors of tropical fruits and pine. Moderately bitter finish. Very full-flavored for the style.
