A daring blend of Imperial Baltic Porters, aged in sherry and bourbon casks.

Taste: Sharp red fruits burst across the tongue, with oaky tannins and silky smooth red grapes mixing it up. Sweet toasted caramel malts and spicy rye join the jam, with hints of espresso and slightly herbal liquer-like bitterness rounding it all out.

Appearance: Black with a dark brown head.

Nose: Sherry and madeira sweetness jumps out immediately, balanced by a soft touch of vanilla and toasted coconut. Baked redcurrants, blackcurrants, and blackberries follow, elegantly merging with hints of dark chocolate.

Malts: Pale malt, Munich malt, Special B, Cara 150, Cara 300, Carafa T-2 Special, Chocolate malt, Chocolate rye malt, Flaked oats, Demerara sugar, Blackcurrants

Hops: Columbus, Chinook, Northern Brewer

Bottle shared with Bro Ro. Well, this is an interesting one. I loved the interplay of barrels, it's got loads of fruityness going on from the sherry casks and some nice vanilla, oak and general sweet booze from the bourbon, pretty nice, and so is the base beer, thick enough, smooth, chocolatey. Ro called sourness while we were sipping on it tho, and since we're professionals we obviously had a pH meter at hand - 3.92, awfully low, something might've happened there. Anyhow, I quite liked it nevertheless.

BD 12012021. Black, fine light brown head. Smells soft roasty, some sweetness, light sherry, oak. Smooth body, not thick but soft. Lightly boozy. Taste is very nicely balanced. Fruity sherry, light roast, dark chocolate, only light currants. Nice.

Bottle picked up from Beerdome Webshop Grootegaste Netherlands I think and consumed sat in Frank camper after a night out with Kostas Tuesday 8th March 2022. Pours inky black, aromas show the barrel ageing, however it's not too in yer face'. Smooth, rich, a slight boozy edge, chocolate, some lingering sherry notes. It's very good.

Opaque dark brown beer, small tan head. Smooth and slightly viscous palate, modest fine carbonation..Silky dark malts, quite light really. Soft and very mellow dark chocolate. Soft fruity bourbon. The two go together well. That's no surprise. So where is the sherry barrel in this 'daring' brew? Coming through well on the final quarter of the beer. It's a semi sweet and juicy sherry and goes well with the soft bourbon barrel. Touch of spice and a trace of wood on the silky finish. Well I wouldn't say this is a 'daring'' brew by any means but it is refined and does a good job of balancing the sherry barrel against the bourbon, the latter could have easily dominated. Very drinkable too.

330mL bottle, pours jet black with a tiny tan head. Aroma is fairly boozy, with lots of sherry barrels, subdued bourbon, and burnt malt -- not getting the currants. Flavour is quite complex, with lots of sherry barrels upfront, followed by gentle bourbon, and a touch of jammy currants. The booze is evidence but not detracting; the sherry barrels are the most prominent element. Moderately complex and very well-constructed. Excellent, but not upper tier, especially for Phjala.

Panda at home, thanks to Fergus, 30/08/21. Black with a moderate tan cap that clears edgeward. Nose is dark malts, charr, liquorice, spice, vinous, sherry notes, figs, ashen tones. Taste comprises fruit cake, sherry stained oak, dark malts, chocolate, liquorice, dates, figgy jam, kiss of bourbon. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced rising and warming boost. Solid flavoursome affair ... great Sherry casking.
