Jayne and Danielle have travelled to Banks’s Brewery, in the West Midlands, to brew this beer especially for this Wetherspoon real-ale festival. It uses ale, wheat and Vienna malts to provide the rich golden colour and light honey character, while the hop varieties provide melon and citrus aromas, leading to spice and apricot notes in the flavour.

Cask at the Prince Arthur (JDW), Fleet. Slightly hazy amber with a loose cream head; fruity aroma; rather thin with a caramel malt taste and a crisp bitterness; before a sweet finish.

Cask at the Victoria Station Spoons - London. Pours clear, rich gold with a creamy white head. Creamy pale malts in the nose with mild citrus, orange, mellow grass. Light sweet flavor with lightly doughy bread, faint leaves and grass, some orange and tangerine. Light bodied with fine carbonation; decent condition. OK balance to finish, more basic pale bread, mild citric hops. So so.

Cask at the Claude Du Vall, Camberley, 25/10/14. Clear golden with a decent light beige covering that reatains well. Nose is bitter orange, citric peel, tangerine, straw. Taste comprises orange squash, light floral effect, straw, tangerine. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, light hop bitterness in the close. Adequate GB if a little 1D and orange squash - esque!
