Can. Black with a small dense tan head. Aroma of chocolate, strong roast, lots of slightly singed caramel, orange peel. Luscious, very sweet indeed with roast and some hops struggling a bit to tame what is a friendly if torpid beast. Nice but not very drinkable.

Pours black with little head Aromas of mocha and smooth roasty malts. Flavors of rich oily roasted malts, with a little chocolate syrup and dark fruit. A great play on just roasted malts without a lot of adjuncts. Very similar to the Export Porter

Black with thin head and low carbonation. This is a well balanced and flavoursome stout. Subtle notes of coffee and dark chocolate. Not too sweet, not too bitter.

Clear dark brown to purple beer, small creamy beige head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: sweet, dried fruits, raisins, prunes, some caramel malts. MF: lively carbon, medium body. Taste: lots of alcohol, bitter, very roasted, lots of coffee, dry. Aftertaste: bit sugary, soft acidity, lots of dried fruits, raisins, very roasted, some caramel, bitter finish with more alcohol and some chocolate. Nice Barley Wine / Stout hybrid!

Can sample at a tasting at Yoav's place. Black. Licorice, roast, coffee, a bit of soy sauce, sweet, slightly umami, some bitterness.

Zwart bier met schuim wat snel wegzakt. Smaak is bitterzoet met iets van koffie, chocolade, mokka, wat karamel en een beetje vanille.

Pour son 6ème anniversaire, la brasserie Kees nous offre un Imperial Stout sérieux mais qui manque de fantasque. On n'en passe pas moins un bon moment sur une bière à dominante chocolat, relativement douce, mais où l'alcool, à 10 % arrive plutôt bien à soutenir la structure et l'amertume, à 45 d'EBU une note de fraîcheur salvatrice. Le visuel est sur un noir total (71 EBC), sans mousse, et une très faible effervescence. Au nez, le chocolat domine devant la noisette, le café et le caramel. A l'attaque du piment vient s'adjoindre aux autres arômes déjà présents au nez, avec une amertume bien pensée. La deuxième bouche est plus douce, mais l'alcool arrive tout de même à s'en sortir. Il aurait cependant mérité au moins 1 % de plus. Nous sommes toujours sur cette dominante chocolat avec une bonne présence, mais une complexité modérée. L'arrière bouche donne un bon contraste, davantage sur l'amertume avec quelques notes fruités (utilisation de Cascade et Chinook). Le final, bien que long est moins brillant. Pour une bière d'anniversaire, on est plutôt bien loti.

Can 33 cl. Brownish-black color, coffee foam. Aroma: slightly sour, burnt, a little varnish and esters, caramel, dried fruits and a pie crust. Taste: sweet, caramel, burnt, wine, prunes, a little ash, not bad.
