Can from The Gull, North Vancouver
Dark brown colour. Rich malt and chocolate, sweet and full bodied, with a touch of raisins, vanilla and spirit. Excellent.

Medium ochre-rust coloured head, fast gone over deep dark brown beer. Sweet nose with obvious Bourbon, vanilla, honey, maple syrup, melanoidins, roast. Chocolate and toffee bar, caramel, ink. Bitter, lots of liquorice, drop - even salty ! Roast, burnt. Maple syrup comes in underneath. Sweetness gradually increases, certainly warming up. Vanilla kept in check. Alcohol, fusels, soy sauce. Very well-bodied, viscous, chewy and opulent. Not very carbonated. Saltiness returns in the aftertaste. Remarkably complex beer, but lacking a tad in balance.

Dark brown. Massive bourbon on the nose. Some toffee malts. On the palate it comes across more complex. Butter toffee, soft, sweet, rich sugars. Dulce de leche level richness. Ok, I do like this, even though it's pushing its luck on the vanilla.

Poured from 330mL can. Very dark brown, near black with tan head. Really nice molasses-y burnt maple treacle with a touch of bourbon, some wood, hint of chocolate. Really nice flavours.
Flink zoet. Roosterig, hout, ahornsiroop, klein beetje bourbon. Best nice.

330mL can, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out lush bourbon barrels, some vanila, toasted caramel, and dark fruits. Flavour is loaded with sweet bourbon and vanilla, caramel, and some dark fruits. There really isn't much complexity here, nor is the integration all that great. I'm not in agreement with the prevailing ratings here. It's decent at best, but it really let's down.
