Sold as Mr George’s Ruby Porter in the US due to trademark issues. A dark ruby beer with a rich flavour and spicy finish. The hop grist adds a hint of citrus to complement the roasted malt character. Dark, Delicious and Delectable.

Bottle shared at home. Finally the real Dark Lord! Very dark brown with beige head that leaves a small film. Raisins, dried fruits, some dark chocolate, some light cardboard, light spices, dates, old stale coffee. Light sweet and bitter. Under medium bodied. Decent.

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol March 2016. Dark brown in colour, with a slight, off-white, head. Aroma of sweetish, dark fruits, molasses and a touch of leafy hop. Flavour had more sweet malts,a touch of toastiness and a moderately bitter finish. Good.

Cask @ The Sir Norman Rae, Shipley. Very dark, with a creamy off-white head. Very mild tasting, with some extremely light tasting dark malts, but you wouldn’t call it flavoursome. Nevertheless it’s a very palatable mild.
