Golden Pride is a premium, superior-strength bottled ale.

Brewed to 8.5% ABV, it is equivalent in strength to Belgian Abbey beer or barley wine, and is designed to be consumed in smaller measures than the traditional pint.

Golden Pride is known for its rich malty flavours, good balance, and notes of orange oil, toasted grain and spicy fruitcake. The late Michael Jackson, beer writer and connoisseur, labelled it 'the Cognac of beers'.

Cask at the Spread Eagle, Croydon. It pours clear amber with a small off-white head. The nose is golden syrup, wood, leather, spice, sultana, date and toffee. The taste is wood, spice, golden syrup, raisin, sultana, toffee, light astringency, alcohol warmth, with a dry, warming. Medium-full body, soft carbonation and viscous mouth-feel. Very smooth indeed. A quaffable winter warmer.

Cask at In de Wildeman. The Golden Pride was beer of the month not too long ago, but that was the kegged version (are you reading this, my fellow Dutch raters? ;-) Clear copper amber colour, no head. Aroma of marmelade, bitter fruitcake, alcohol, white raisins, light spicy. Flavour is medium sweet, malty, marmelade, sweet alcohol, candied fruits, nice bitter hoppy finish with a little earthy liquorice root. Medium-bodied. Better than the kegged version.

On tap at In de Wildeman. Clear deep amber colour, off-white head. Aroma of, well, cognac, quite sharp, light sweet malts, subtle fruit notes, but not very sweet, light caramel. Flavour is light sweet, malty, vinous, white grapes, cognac, toasted malts, bitter orange peel, decent hoppy bitterness underneath and in the finish. Medium-bodied, oily mouthfeel.

0.33l bottle. Deep orange body, nice beige head. Caramelly aroma with lots of fruityness and a minimal roastyness. Lots of caramel, some chocolate, reisin and bread with lots of fruity hoppyness in the flavor. Big body. Itโ€™s like a double IPA. Awesome beer!

Clear gold to amber colour. Aroma barley wine, caramel, dark fruits, raisins. Taste light heavy caramel and fruity sweet. Finish warm heavy sweet. 7 4 8 4 15

Revisited 30.6.2013. Bottle shared by Peter Bognar. Aroma is that of a barley wine, sweet caramel, fruity. Clear reddish amber colour. Taste is strong sweet barley maltiness. Enough balancing bitterness. Good one. Finish is balanced bittersweet. Good beer from Fullerโ€™s.
