Lager has a bad reputation amongst the Ale and Craft crowds, understandably so, here in the UK our bars are littered with keg fonts all displaying badly made, macro brewery, chemical, crap. Forget the mass-market, and focus on Double Tide - it is a properly lagered beer, spending 10 weeks in tank. This additional time, at close to zero degrees, allows certain compounds to drop out the beer meaning a cleaner and smoother flavour.
Our house strain of yeast is an Ale-Lager hybrid, allowing us to produce Double Tide and keep in some of the ester, fruity flavours but the clean Lager notes. Double Tide has sweet notes complimented by Czech spicy, hoppy flavours. The name Double Tide comes from our unique location on the edge of the Solent, a famous stretch of water for having the unusual phenomenon of Double High Water.

On tap at The Green Goddess, Blackheath. Gold pour with a white head. Zesty lemon & lime aromas. Herby taste, touch more lemon & lime. Does the job.

6-3-7-3-14 Can, #529, six months before bbd. Pours yellow, with a creamy head. Aroma is sweet grainy malts with bread crust, honey and some whiffs of butter, as well as herbal hops with citrusy notes of orange. Medium body, with soft to average carbonation. Flavour is grainy malts with bread and heather, as well as herbal hops with piney notes. Lingering hoppy finish.

440ml can bought at Vinmonopolet Bergen Storsenter. Misty warm golden body, white head that laced quite well. Moderate grainy smell, a scent of herbal hops as well. Balanced taste of grain, white head, and noble hops. Drying pale malty close, distant notes of bitterness. Tasty lager version. (Hotel room, Bergen 09.06.2022).

[On tap at the Andover Tap, Andover.] A hazy straw coloured pour with a thin white head; and a grainy aroma; strong grainy taste; with a crisp and fresh finish. A rather good pilsner.

Bottle at Three Joes Pizza, Winchester. Low key citrus aroma. Pale gold. Thick fluffy white head. Medium bitter. A slight hint of sweetness before almost smokey malts take over. Light bodied. Slick. Soft-fizzy carbonation. Dry finish. Not quite a standard Pils thanks to the interesting smokey element.
