Keg at Brewdog Shepherds Bush, sampled Feb 2017. Pours deep brown towards black with a tan head. Aroma: dark chocolate, coffee, dark berries, lime hints. Taste: moderate sweet, burnt toast, cocoa, floral. Medium body with soft carbonation. A saison/stout hybrid, interesting if slightly odd.

Can, that I’m drinking at 10:45 in the morning on account of the fact the lid on the can just blew off! It’s fair to say it’s a bit lively! Pours really dark brown. Big, frothy, tan head that eventually calms down to a foamy layer. Nose has chocolate limes. Lime juice. Some toasted coconut. Dark vine fruit. Taste is a curious mix of bitter and lime juice tangy. High carbonation. Drying and tangy. Finish follows on from there. A bit weird, possibly unintentionally.

Can from Inn At Home, Guildford. Interesting aroma - a sweet and sour mix of citrus and coconut. Not sure how pleasant it is! Dark and glossy. Gusher: massive beige head - my first glass was 80% head. Acidic sourness comes to the fore, which is amplified by the fizzy carbonation. Coconut and chocolate in the mix by for me it’s the Saison element which is most prominent. Although, as it’s Sat beside me gradually being sipped, it does gain a bitter roast edge. Light and relatively watery. Long astringent finish. Not sure about this. Overly acidic. Not getting much stout. Just not enjoying it. Would be interesting to try the original beers.

330ml Can - Black with a foamy head. Coconut, lime and hints of vanilla in the aroma. The taste is mostly quite roasted with notes of coconut and coffee but the lime notes are certainly noticeable.

Can. Opaque dark brown beer, big fluffy pale tan head. Airy palate, mildly dry and with reasonable carbonation. Fluffy dark malts, very mild roast bitterness. The lime from the Kaffir Saison is almost as strong here as it was in it’s donor beer. Smooth finish. Mellow dark malts and mellow lime! Fine!

Keg at BDSB / Londkn. Pours black-brown with a creamy, tan head. The aroma holds plenty of rose water, faint roast, a little cocoa, Turkish delight. Medium sweet flavour with some ashy roast, baking cocoa, more rose water, burnt toast. Medium bodied with average carbonation: finishes with a nice nice rose water and bittersweet baking cocoa. Quite a novelty. An enjoyable mix.

Keg at Brewdog Shepherds Bush, during the tap takeover. A opaque black coloured pour with a lasting light tan head. Aroma is bug rose water, rose petal, faint coconut, nutty brown malts. Perfume on the nose. I think they went the wrong way with the blend. Flavour is composed of semi sweet nutty malts, tangy rose, smooth coconut, perfume, . Palate is smooth, moderate carbonation, ok. Too much perfume.
