Bottle. Archer Road Beer Stop, Sheffield. As Blue Monkey British Ape. Pin bright, coppery gold. Film and ring of lasting, white head. Nose has thick, jammy malts. Spicy, floral hop. Notes of orange drizzle cake. Strawberries in syrup. Hint of Parma Violet sweets. Taste is jammy sweet, turning spicy, herby bitter. Smooth mouthfeel. Decent body. Finish gets chewy and slightly resinous. Great stuff. Best Blue Monkey beer in ages.

Keg at The Organ Grinder, Nottingham, Saturday 9th April 2016 with dad. Pours amber, good clarity and with a white head. Really hoppy but the UK hops present themselves in a very different way, not showy, earthy, robust, there is a little perfumey element to this a touch of violet perhaps, a little steady warmth from the alcohol. I really like this, I guess it lacks finesse but it’s a ballsy solid beer. A6 A5 T8 P4 Ov15 3.7

Craft Tottenham Court Road. Cask. Almost clear gold beer, small off white head. Palate is light and semi dry, modest fine carbonation. Light sweet malts. Resinous citric hops, with peel bitterness. Light zippy lemon. Smooth finish brings a trace of caramel from the malts. Nicely done but would have been nicerer on Keg!
