As in the Belgian tradition of brewing Christmas beers, this is our very own version. It is added with orange peel and raisins. The aromas are warming and captivating and swing from nutty to citrus and slight hints of honey. Mouthfeel starts with caramel and honey flavors and lead to cherry and currant flavors with a delicate bitter finish.

Some booze, some bitterness. Some oak in here with dark fruits. Pours dark red with ok head and lacing. Candy sugar evident. Finishes bittersweet. Fizzy carbonation. Tap.

Bottle. Light hazy deep copper/brown liquid with medium off-white head. Aroma of dried fruit, raw sugar, orange peel, banana, red berries, vanilla and spices. Taste is light to medium sweet and light bitter with notes of dried fruit, toffee and light sweet alcohol. Medium bodied with medium to high carbonation. Pretty good.

It looks a chestnut colour, small bit of foam that’s gone quickly.
The smell is nice. Fruity with hints of a mild tartness.
The taste is of the orange peel that’s kinda bitter, again a hint of tartness. The most surprising thing is how well the abv is hidden.
Light bodied with light carbonation.
Pretty average brew at way above average price.

750 ml bottle, probably from Voldby Købmandsgaard. ABV is 9.5%. Dark brown colour with floaties, moderate off-white to beige head. Pleasant aroma of malts, caramel, orange peel and raisins, hints of mild spices. Medium sweet and mildly spicy flavour, again with notes of orange peel and raisins. Very moderate hops. A quite interesting and pleasant beer, which I’ll be happy to buy again for Christmas.
