This balanced and nuanced sour is the first in a series of barrel-aged versions of Wind Suit, the Extra Special Bitter we brewed with our friends Forest & Main from Ambler, PA. It has spent a year in a white wine barrel with Brettanomyces, helping it to develop new layers of complexity, including notes of pineapple, marmalade, fruit tea and balsamic vinegar.

Aroma & Flavour: Caramel, toffee and hazelnut malt accents, followed by pineapple and marmalade, with farmhouse flavours and light notes of balsamic vinegar
Body: Medium bodied with a dry, tannic finish
Aftertaste: Marmalade bitterness, hibiscus tea, herbal notes

375ml bottle. Pours murky brown with a big frothy beige head, lively pour. Aroma is funky, vinous, citrus fruits. Taste is funky fruits, quite vinous, musty grapes, sweet malts, caramel, marmalade, brett. Medium body. Quite a nice sour that I'm surprised I liked given that I'm not particularly fond of neither ESB's nor Bretted beers.

Bottle split at L6, thanks to Fergus, 23/05/19. Hazed golden amber with a decent egg shell white covering. Nose is pissy fruit esters, citric flesh, green berry funk, grass, wood must. Taste comprises funky fruits, damp straw, light brett scraping, stoned fruits, oak, lemon tinged straw. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced acidic rise. Solid sour … definitely one of the best I've had from CW.
