Marquis is a dark braggot, a dark strong beer brewed with a large share of honey. Pleasant roasted malt notes combine with the mild accents of wildflower honey from the Masurian bee yard. Strong, rich, layered and dessert-like beer. Marquis was brewed in collaboration with our friends from Lithuanian brewery Genys Brewing.

Bottle. An oily pour reveals a close to black beer and a small beige head. The aroma has lots of treacle and licorice, with something reminiscent of a dirty, oily workshop in the back. A light oxidation and honey in the back. It's full-bodied, intense and warming on the palate, with a low carbonation level. Sweet flavor with treacle and licorice doing most of the work, honey as backdrop and some oxidation notes. A delicious beer in many ways, but a bit messy I think. 200314

Shared bottle at Cardinal, Stavanger. Pours dark brown with very little head. Aroma dark malt, dark bread, honey, ethanol. Tastes sweet with some roasted bitterness. Medium bodied, rough.

330 ml bottle, as Kingpin Marquis Dark Braggot, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 12.5%. Very dark brown colour, nearly black. Small but creamy beige head. Aroma of solvent and detergent, with honey and malts in the background. Sweet and boozy flavour, notes of honey, malt sugar and molasses. Not good.

Braggot fajny, barwa jasno waniliowa, niewielka, opada szybko, barwa ciemno brazowa nie ma przeswitow. W smaku slodkie ale tu w tym przypadku jest slodycz szlachetna taka miodowa, zasypana jakby pokruszonymi ciasteczkami korzennymi, doskonale rozgrzewajaca, alko perfekcyjnie ukryte, a jest go nie malo. naprawde smacznei ten zapach zielonych jablek granny smith, caly czas wraz ze slodycza sie przewijaja te jablka granny smith.

Bottle (from koht). Straight from the bottle. Aroma and flavor are boozy, sweet, grainy, lagery notes, and ton more of booze. Overall: it feels like drinking some strong alcohol mixed with splash of lager, so not a fan.
