Can. aaah, the aroma of tons of american style hops as well as lots of hard roasted and roasted malts. black ipa aroma. This one is above average but they are all so darn good to begin with. apart from pine, grapefruit, roasted malts i also get licorice, dark chocolate, dark caramel, white sugar, brown sugar. quite complex and interesting. Flavor is roasted malts, full bodied hops, pine , grapefruit, coffee, dark chocolate, more roasted malts in the ending, the 9.5% well hidden, no yeasty off notes, super solid black ipa, quite unexpected out of belgium.

Can, 9.5%. Very fruity aroma, and also quite malty and caramelly. Hazy dark brown colour, not black. Small frothy light brown head. The flavour is fruity and caramelly with a faint vanilla note. Quite high bitterness, but not too much. Creamy carbonation. Could have had less alcohol if you ask me.

Can. Pours slightly hazy dark ruby with stable beige head. Clear aroma of hops and grass, with touches of roast, caramel, and yeast. Bitter, hoppy and grassy flavour with notes of yeast and malt and touches of fruit. Bitter, roasty and hoppy aftertaste with estery touches. Decent.

Can, 0.33l. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, mild tropical fruit, herbs and caramel. Pours clear dark brown color with large soapy light brown head, good lacing and average sparkling appearance. Taste starts medium sweet caramelly and mildly roasted, follows by cocoa and dried fruit, mouthfeel is warm, while finish is moderate bitter. Medium to full body, oily texture and soft carbonation in palate. Wanna share this with Michael J. Hops…

Can at home in Hackney - picked up from Etre Gourmet online. Pours clear brown with a creamy, khaki head. Medium sweet flavour with notes of toasted brown bread, pine, orange peel, a little earthy cocoa, coffee. Medium bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Mellow warmth in the finish, nice lightly ashy roast, baking cocoa, more well toasted pine, citrus rind accents. Good, drinkable stuff.

Can from Dok. Hazy dark brown-blackish, small, foamy, tan head. Aroma of dried orange peel, prune, chestnut, walnut, pine resin, fondant, brown bread, oats. Taste has sweetish apple, prune & orange, bittersweet citrus peel over toasty & nutty malts, feeling like brown bread & oats. Earthy & piney hoppy finish, touch of coffee nib, roasted nuts, dried fruit. Well-hidden alcohol as far as that's concerned. Medium body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Good teamwork by hops & malts; rather heavy though.

Small to medium, yellow-cream coloured head over muddy reddish brown beer. Dry hops, fragrant, Hessian sacksm melanoidins. Some sweet, chocolatey malts. Dry-ish, light roast, if finishing malty-sweet. Roasted nuts, dark grains, melanoidins. Brown wholemeal bread. Oily-slick, even a bit chewy. Mild carbonation. Quite OK, but I find it rather sweet for a black IPA, which usually - and preferably - tend to be bone-dry.
