Ale aged in bourbon barrels
Le douzième anniversaire of The Bruery brings another celebratory ale true to tradition. The masterful Solera blending method combined with bourbon barrel-aging builds layers of complexity with a portion of each year’s anniversary ale. With notes of toffee and vanilla balancing perfectly with dark fruit and oak characters, Soie truly serves up a Bruer’s dozen.

Keg at Rbabarrab (2nd incarnation), CPH, 17/11/22. Extremely dark mahogany brown with a beige swirl that clears edgewards. Nose is booze, stewed fruits, bourbon, dates, toffee fudge. Taste comprises oak, ripe old bourbon, toffee, brown sugar melt, fruit cake mix, toasted brown sugar, light spice. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a bourbon xoaked punchy boost. Solid kit ... sips fine for the big 17!

Tap@Rbabarrab, Copenhagen (17/11/2022) - very dark brown with a thin tanned ringed head. Sweet and light toasted malty with lots of sweet caramel and toffee, rich opulent bourbon cutting in, dried fruit shred, spices, full bodied, some vanilla coming into the warming malty finish. Beautiful sipper.

A dark reddish brown ale with a very thin mocha head. In aroma, sweet fruity chocolate malt with dark fruits, caramel, treacle, alcohol warmth, Pinot de Charente, beautiful. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity chocolate caramel cake, alcohol warmth, treacle candy, very nice and rich.

Sample thanks to Pilsnertest. Cloudy, dark brown with brief head. Sweet molasses, bourbon, oak, vanilla, dark caramel. All the great stuff from a creme brulée without being anything like one. Slightly bitter, slightly boozy. Gets even better as it warms.
