Darker brown. Aroma is heavy mushroom, slight melasses and caramel. Taste is tart mushroom with some cristallized melasses. Good balance. Well made. Similiar to the famous Lion Stout.

Bottle. Black color with white head. Aroma is chocolate, earthy, a touch liquorice. Taste is the same, lovely chocolate, liquorice. Very dry finish, mineraly mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Perhaps a touch too much oats in here, making it more chalky than velvety, but the flavour is superb, if simple!

Black like a dark porter or light stout, thin head. Coffee choco nose. Delicious coffee licorice with some hazelnutty character. An excellent dark Bier!

Flasche (1 l) von Hopfen & Malz, Berlin. - Tiefschwarz, eher klar; dunkelbeigefarbener Schaum. Unbedingt probierenswert!

1 liter swing top bottle pours with a dark mahogany colored body that supports a thin tan head of foam. The aroma offers up a good dose of sweet malts mixed with dark roasted to burnt malts and a light sort of mineral caramel spiciness. The taste is similar where there’s a good deal of sweet malts intermingling with dark roasted malts and thin layers of straight up burnt malts. There is an elevated degree of carbonation that breaks up the smooth mouth feel the oatmeal is trying to achieve. Pretty nice full flavor stout but falls a little too much on the sweet side for my taste as well as the body being a bit too prickly with carbonation.

Sehr dunkelbraunes Bier mit geringer Schaumkrone. Geruch sehr röstmalzig, schokoladig, leichter Lakritzgeruch. Geschmack intensiv röstmalzig, schokoladig, Kaffee, dunkle überreife Früchte.

Muffiger Malzantrunk mit leichten Lakritznoten. Weich, die Muffigkeit bleibt. Intensiver werdend, etwas trocken. Nicht mein Fall. 10/7/8/7/8/8

Rerate, creamy, aromatic, good chocolate, chewy, nice. Bottle at bkl2014. Sweet spicy wood and licorice aroma. Black, offwhite head. Spicy start, licorice root and wood sweetness, roast, a bit chocolate. Herbal and citric hops to balance. A hint medicinal retronasal, but not in a bad way. Really interesting variant.

1000ml bottle, thanks Timo A

Pours pitch black with a small white head. Aroma of roasted malts, salty licorice, salmiakki, hints of dark chocolate. Taste is smooth, watery, slightly salty and roasty with notes of licorice and oatmeal. Finish is smooth, watery and salty with some licorice and roasty notes. Okay, quite smooth but light bodied licorice stout.
