Cette Van Mol m'a quelque peu fait penser à l'Imperial Stout à la cardamome de la brasserie Popihn, qui était sur une base très bien faite mais une cardamome un peu trop sur les devants. La base de cette Jivan est également bien réalisée, bien torréfiée avec des arômes intenses. Les épices et notamment la cardamome sont toutefois un peu trop présentes et auraient mérité d'être plus discrets. Pas autant que les arômes de Buffalo Trace qui sont pour leur compte non décelables. Sur le visuel, nous sommes sur un noir total sans mousse et avec une faible effervescence. Dès le nez les épices sont très présentes avec notamment cardamome et cannelle. Café et chocolat sont également bien présents sur un ensemble puissant et plein. Le visuel est sur une robe noire sans mousse et avec une faible effervescence. De façon surprenant, la texture est relativement fine. Cela n'empêche cependant en aucun cas l'imperial stout d'être à la fois puissant et intense avec une excellente corpulence ou longueur. Les 11 % sont bien dosés avec un équilibre bien trouvé. Pour amateur de cardamome.

Bottle. Color: Black, light brown head. Aroma: Spicy, boozy Whiskey, roasted malt, vanilla notes. Taste: Boozy, Buffalo Trace Bourbon, dark chocolate, roasted malt, spicy, vanilla and licorice notes. Some mocha. Full body, below average carbonation. Over moderate to medium sweet, moderate bitterness. Nice.

330 m bottle. Pours a very dark brown with moderate head that settles quickly. Aromas of nutmeg, cinnamon, white pepper, bourbon, and caramel malts. Flavor follow same, strong on the white pepper, with additional cardamom and dark caramel. Bourbon comes out in the finish. Neat

Bottle. Black pour. Aroma of spicey cinnamon, cardemom, nutmeg, chocolate, bourbon vanilla, caramel, red fruit and pepper. Taste has peppery cinnamon, caramel, chocolate, sweet cherry, cardemom, bourbon vanilla, earthy coconut, nutmeg and a spicey finish. The barrel is subtle and blends well with the spice flavors. Good stuff.
