10/VIII/16 - 33cl bottle from De Hopduvel (Gent) shared @ Erwin's BBQ ponton tasting - BB: IV/2030 (2016-833)
Pitch black impenetrable beer, irregular big aery beige head, little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: wow! What an aroma bomb! Lots of chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, mocha, sweet, alcohol, lovely stuff! MF: very lively carbon, medium body. Taste: lots of chocolate, bit sweet, alcohol, sugary, bit aggressive alcohol bite, bitter hops, bit flat and one-dimensional which is a bit of a let down after that great smell. Aftertaste: mocha, coffee, bitter hops, dry, cocoa powder, alcohol, more chocolate, sourish touch, vanilla, bit dusty.

Opaque dark brown beer, small tan head. Dark chocolate nose. Airy palate, semi dry with fine carbonation. Soft dark malts, rich. Good dark chocolate with mild spice and a little wood. Mellow fruity bourbon on the back end. Dark fruits. Light dry finish. Chocolate bourbon linger. A more mature BA offering from White Pony.

Bottle courtesy of rlgk. Pours blackish brown with a huge frothy and creamy dark mocha head that slowly dissipates while leaving a small trace on the glass. Smell is slightly sweet and malty with roasted malts, burnt wood, dark roast coffee, bitter chocolate, soot, red apples, alcohol, toffee and baked pears. Taste is sweet and malty with roasted malts, burnt wood, salty liquorice candy, melted snow, dark roast coffee, bitter chocolate, toffee, red apples, soot, alcohol and hints of vanilla fudge. Mouthfeel is soft, velvety, slightly roasted astringent and medium to full bodied. Finish is tiny sweet, bitter and malty with roasted malts, buttered dark bread, charred wood, vanilla fudge, dark roast coffee, bitter chocolate, soot and hints of apple skins. Bit dominant on the apple/pear phenols and slightly buttery. Still decent though…

Bottle at Bierhuyske Pours pitch black. rather small foam Scent is chocolaty, roasted malts . Not too much bourbon Taste is likewise . Very nice base-beer taste ( containing roasted malts, chocolate-bitterness ,... ) with a nice amount of bourbon . It’s def there, but very subtile . Nice !

[33 cl. bottle][15 cl. sample][Split with Kogymo][White Pony Day @ ‘t Antwaerps Bierhuiske]Lighter black with small but solid and creamy mocha head. Smell feels a bit weak, muddled, getting milk chocolate and milk mixed with roasted grains, quite sweet, simple bourbon (it is there but not very overt). Taste is roasted and touch charred malts, boozy with charred oak, bourbon is a bit weak, touch muddled, bit grainy, milk chocolate, sweet & sugary, faint liquorish. Body is faintly grainy, bit weak, not really watery but clearly needs to be fuller. Okay but the barrel aging doesn’t appear to have really taken of here, I enjoyed the regular non-BA one more here for this reason.
