500ml can at share. Golden pour with small foamy white head. Aroma is malty, bready and citrus notes. Taste brings a more robust hoppiness than usual for German beers, but appropriate for the style. Full bodied with a mild bitterness.

Can from the advent calendar. Lemony, herbal hops, rich malt, biscuity, bready. Slightly hazy deep gold, low head. Malty, sweet, quite German in malt character, herbal and citrus hops. Easy drinking but not super exciting.

Day 21 of the Kalea Costco Advent Calendar: Perlenzauber German Pale Ale 5.4% A style I was most iffy about in this set but this deep golden brew with thick soapy foam looked promising. The aroma was tame mild stone fruit hops but the medium to full body delivers ok hop notes with a touch of pine. The malts deliver that honeyed richness I’ve had from several of the German beers in this set. Pretty good.

2022 Costco Advent Calendar. Can. Clear gold with a small white head. Nose is cigarette ash (not my fingers), pencil shavings, cracker, hint of citrus. Black tea, cracker, browning grasses, hint of citrus, pencil shavings. EDITING TO ADD: whoever classified this as an APA has never had an APA.

Gold with a fleeting, foamy, white head. Artificial floral aroma, like a cleaning agent or cheap candy. Taste is mildly bitter the whole way through. Finishes with a lingering hint of clove, which is probably the best thing going on here. Medium-bodied, moderate carbonation that fades quickly, leaving a limp, golden puddle, watery texture. Lots of problems, but just drinkable, if you’re in a forgiving mood.

Kalea-Bier-Adventkalender Deutschland Dosenversion 24.12.2017 Endlich ist Weihnachten und man bekommt das letzte Bier aus dem Kalender. Was mag man sich wohl für diesen feierlichen Tag für eine Köstlichkeit überlegt haben? Die Ernüchterung erfolgt schnell: es ist wieder eine komische Eigenkreation aus dem Hause Egerer. -Die Dose mit einer hübschen Bikini-Taucherin vor einem Bullauge ist zumindest recht nett. Geschmacklich findet man hier auch Metall vor. Ich weiß nicht, ob das von der Dose kommt, aber selbst für ein Dosenbier (das vor allem noch bis 1.3.2019 halten soll) schmeckt es einfach nur nach Alu. Wer sich ein frisches Pale Ale erwartet hat, wird auch enttäscht, da es weder besonders hopfig ist, noch sonst irgendwelche fruchtigen Aromen vorzuweisen hat. Ich weiß nicht, ob das Bier auch im freien Handel erhältlich ist, aber ich will jedem einen weihnachtlichen Tipp mit auf den Weg geben: Dieses Bier lieber nicht kaufen.
