Light chestnut brown, clear, thin tight white head, some lacing
Aroma - soft caramel malts...bit of dark toffee...soft toasted malts...no hops
Taste - caramel toffee malts...light chocolate caramel...malty...light fruity malts in background...very soft bitter hops in background...less malty than Iβve had it before, flavour bit subdued
Palate - very soft carb, thinnish body, sweet malty palate. Finish of soft toffee malts...caramel malts...soft malty tail with slight burnt note.
Overall - Easy drinking but remember it being considerably more malty and having more flavour...bit bland today

500ml bottle from Dobbies garden centre, Ashford. Clear chestnut colour with lasting thick beige head. Toffee dry malty aroma. Lots of dry malt on the aroma. Bit dull in the mouth. Some malt. Not much hop presence throughout. OK, if just a little one dimensional.

Brought back for me by a friend (who lived a while in Scotland) and rated May 2009. Pours a clean orange-brown colour with a foamy beige head that is short lived. Lacing is pretty good and big bubbles are stuck all around the glass. The nose is on the malty side, with some light roasted malt, some caramel, mild fruit and a little wine. The mouthfeel is like it came out of a cask (as this beer is available in a cask). The taste is pretty smooth with the same found in the aromas, with caramel and notes of roasted malt. The aftertaste is a little nutty too. Quite a refreshing bitter that is not too punchy, but well-balanced.

Bottle. Creamy white good mostly lasting head. Dark amber colour. Moderate malty and light hoppy aroma. Light bitter flavor wiyΒ΄th some caramellic notes. Average light bitter finish. Oily palate. Not my kind of bitter but ok.

Half, cask at Dagda Bar. Slightly off-white head with good duration atop of an attractive, clear dark amber body. Smell of resin-like hops mixed with earthy malts. Resinous hops up front in flavour with dark, bread-like malts behind. Solid bitter end. A good one (Edinburgh, 28.11.2010).

Bottle: Almost clear, reddish-amber coloured, bigger lacy & stable off-white head; malty and slight roasty nose, dried fruits and herbal hops detectable; light to medium bodied, creamy MF, moderate bitter-sweet flavour; lingering citrussy and roasty finish - with traces of cacao-powder - and a lingering hoppy aftertaste. A goody.....

Bottle 500ml. @ home.[ Trade by cgarvieuk ]. Clear medium to dark amber color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, burnt caramel, light caramel, smoke notes, light to moderate hoppy. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, burnt caramel bitter. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20100227]
