Someday soon we’ll be reunited, but until then, Dageraad will brew imperial stout with miso and Haitian cacao nibs, pausing only to sigh and gaze longingly toward New West.

Can, courtesy of Riley
Black colour, creamy beige head. Strong cacao vibes, and also a salty note (from the miso), very low sweetness, but it still maintain a respectable body; slightly metallic in the finish.
Good.

Can. Dark brown. Thin head. The aroma shows the toasty dark malts, and a bit of cacao. Not getting the miso in the aroma. And like, what type of miso? You can't be from Van and think all miso is the same. On the palate, definitely a chocolate, cookie dough type of character. That cacao is there. Subtle umami? Not finding much. Gotta drop red or black miso in this, and apparently in greater quantity. Still, the toasty, chocolatey stuff is great, that hint of marzipan I find interesting (is that what miso does when it ferments, cause there's no almonds in this?). Yeah, miso or not, I'm digging this.

Poured from 355mL can. Black with light tan head. Cocoa nibs, medium roast, hint of salt, mild alcohol. Not bad. Wish I could try its sibling brew (but allergic to almonds).

355 ml can. Pours a very dark brown with light bubbly head that settles quickly. Aromas of cocoa and soy sauce, coke and roasted malts. Flavors of salty chocolate, unami and soy sauce, plus oily roasted malts. Interesting.

Deep chewy brownish black body and huge dark beige foam, excellent. Smells of a fun meld between soya sauce and coffee. Flavour is big chewy oily coffee, licorice, sharp ashen grain. Full, oily, smooth, all kinds of excellent.

Can, pours black with a small tan head. Nose is fairly restrained like its sister, with earthy notes and gentle cocoa — not getting miso. Flavour is semi-salty, with cocoa nibs, earthy malt, and some gentle roast. Finished with slight alcohol burn and minimal residual sweetness, but with a bit of saltiness from the miso. Not a whole lot of depth, just like its sister—it’s pleasant and drinkable. I prefer the Steel & Oak one by a little.

Miso
Jet black with a rich brown head. Rich chocolate and some mushroom. Earthy umami, light soy and some chocolate. Light bitterness on the finish.
