Odyssey 009 is a blend of sherry and bourbon barrel-aged imperial stouts and red wine barrel-aged saison, inoculated with brett and lactic-acid. Inspired by Project Barista, the beer is a complex blend of flavours found in your coffee cup - fruity acidity, roasted chocolate, nuttiness and a rounded caramel and toffee finish. A small addition of Brazilian coffee from Anvil in Basingstoke accentuates the sweetness.

Bottle shared in London - many thanks to Fergus. Pours clear dark brown with a frothy, tan head. A little tangy, some dark berries, chocolate. Medium to full bodied with average carbonation. Finishes with more cocoa, nice berry notes. Enjoyable gear.

Level 6 bottleshare. Thanks to Fergus. Opaque dark brown beer, very small pale tan head. Smooth palate, quite light and semi dry, decent fine carbonation. As good as mix of mellow dark chocolate malts and Coca Cola. Touch of fruity whisky and a whisper of wood. Amusing but couldn't drink loads.

Draft. A dark brown beer with a red shine under a thin brown head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, alcohol, over ripe fruits, and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of over ripe fruits, malt, caramel, and alcohol, leading to a bitter finish.

On tap. Pours a very dark brown with short tan head. Aromas of dark fruit; dates and figs plus cola and oily roasted malts. Flavors of soured dark fruit, rich roasted malts, chocolate syrup and sugary coffee. Neat.

Tap. Darkest brown color with white head. Aroma is cherry, chocolate, cereals. Taste is cherries, chocolate, cereal bar, a touch sour in the back. Oily mouthfeel with low carbonation. The sourness is a bit weird, but it's nice!
