Whey, the trouble started in The Heed then crept its way into The Toon... An incestuous collaboration from the dark heart of the danger zone... A behemoth of an imperial stout mashed in with toasted malted oats, toasted wheat, malted rye, manuka raisins, black currants, figs and pecan nut. Fermented out using dark Canadian maple syrup with a late addition of toasted coconut flakes and dark cacao. Monumentally monstrous with chewy notes of mixed granola, vintage fruit cake, port wine, dark chocolate torte, coconut and roasted pecan nut.

Can. Black body under a small beige head. Aroma of dark malt, chocolate, coffee and caramel. Surprisingly little boozy considering the high ABV. Taste is sweet and smooth malty with chocolate, maple, nuts, dry fruit, port and some warming alcohol. Fine body and long lasting aftertaste. Smooth and definitively on the sweet side, but the lack of booziness is the biggest surprise here.

Can from NE Brews black colour with a slim tan head. Aroma has nutty pecan and roasted malt growing maple to finish. Roasted bitter and maple sweet taste. With a growing sweetness. Full smooth body and boozy.

Can. A birthday gift off my best mate, who is by no means a beer nerd, but does know what I might like. Love a pecan, and who doesnโt like maple? Laughable how this is so easy drinking at 14%. Memorable.

Can bought from the Growlers & Cans stall at West Byfleet Farmers Market. Aroma is sweet, yet boozy. Makes me think of liquor filled chocolates only with added maple. Black. Inky. Creamy beige head retreats to the rim. Initial dark Chocolate bitterness. But with a sweet maple edge and low key dark berries. The walnuts then join the maple for a smoothing effect, with the bitterness pushed to the periphery. Booze more prominent into the finish. Thick bodied. Oily. Fizzy carbonation. Long astringent finish. This is the third maple based stout I've had recently and as much as it sounded like a good idea in the first two it just didn't quite work for me. However this is a lovely beer... the walnuts may be the contributing factor adding balance? A beer you could sink into.

Can. Pours black with a white head. Aroma is chocolate, nuts, chocolate, caramel. Light savoury maple notes. Cherry and berries. Big body. Flavour is big and malty, rich and sweet. Lots of maple, somewhat savoury and woody, big pecan and a hint of smoke. Caramel and chocolate. Lovely stuff, very drinkable at 14%!

Can picked up at Kihoskh and drunk at home (01/04/2021) - pours black with a nice tan head. Dark sweet and roasted malty with opulent chocolate, sticky maple and caramel sweetness flooding in, dark dried fruit shred, slick thick oily unctuous, more oozing chocolate with a balanced smattering of coconut into the lingering sweet malty close. Wow โค

440ml can. Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of chocolate, maple, pecan, figs. Taste is sweet, dark chocolate, maple, pecan, figs, raisins, caramel, a little liquorice, treacle, leather. Full bodied, so so smooth. Loads going on, strong and boozy but in a good way. Outstanding.

Can from Eltham Wines. Black pour with a beige head. Nose is brown sugar, plain chocolate Bounty ยฉ ย ยฎ โข, dark roast coffee, black treacle, maple, dark fruit jam. Rich flavours of cola, camp coffee, oodles of maple, plum jam, dark chocolate, coconut, sweet tobacco. Long sweet booze laden finish. Glorious!
