500 ml bottle. Pours a dark reddish brown with light head. Aromas of cherrywood, caramel and dusty toasted malts. Flavors follow same with additional dried fruit and a bit of Dr Pepper. Dry, bitter and fruity finish.

500ml bottle. Pours dark brown with a white head. Aromas & tastes of rich dark chocolate, toffee, hints of spice, hops & malt. Medium body. Smooth bitter finish.

500ml bottle bought at a gift shop in Burton-on-the Water, and shared with Gary. A deep mahogany coloured body under tiny off-white head, dotted spots on the glass. Smoothly roasted caramel malts on the nose. Malt-forward taste with moments of nuts, caramel, and earth, offset by a bite of dried fruits. Smoothly roasted tail, semi-sweet. Quite tasty. (Hotel room, Sheffield 28.04.2025).

Bottle from Oakes Farm shop, Balsall Common. Pours a reddish brown with moderate sized beige head, great retention. Nutty aroma with hints of dark chocolate, treacle. Taste of fruit cake, lots of dried fruits, nuts, toffee, somewhat roasty with a prominent bitter finish. Nice smooth medium body with a subtle carbonation. Very nice.

Bottle from a colleague. A malty beer. Some brown malt. Some malt loaf flavour. Some light chocolate but mostly malt.

Bottle from The Cotswold Cheese Co, Stow-on-the-Wold. Pours a deep Ruby colour with a thick creamy beige head. Aromas of caramel, dark fruits, toasty bread with a hint of roasted malts and nuts. Taste is the same but with more pronounced roasty notes and nuts and some added chocolate and a touch of vanilla. Thin to medium body, low carbonation and very smooth mouthfeel. Very nice. All 3 beers i have tried from this brewery have been very good.

500ml bottle: BBE Feb 2022. Poured into a tall '8 Sail Brewery pint glass' at home on 18th Nov 2020. Foaming beige crown on a mahogany red/brown body, nose is malty, woody and nutty, dark chocolate esters arrive as the beer warmed in the glass. The taste is malt forward and semi-sweet in nature, chocolate notes arriving late (as it warms, like the aroma started to release chocolate esters). Caramel and toffee like flavours also in the taste, more so as it warmed, woody and nutty throughout. Liked it, a proper 'Winters Tale Ale'.

Cask at the herriot watt beer festival 2019... Dark brown... Thin tan lacing.. Soft sweet woody almost chocolate roast malts nose.. Dark sweet toffee roast blackcurrant malts

Cask at the heriot watt beer festival. Pours deep ruby, nose is caramel, nutty, roasted, taste is sweet toffee, roasted, light fruit.
