Gloriously dark, rich and fruity aromatic beer. This wonderful top fermented beer is coupled with notes of caramel and dark chocolate. Munich is famous for its iconic ‘Dunkels’ and we think ours is right up there and represents ABK’s roots and regionality.

Bottle from Beer 52 Has a strong aroma of molasses with hints of dark fruits. Pours a deep chestnut brown with a minimal transient off-white head. In the mouth there is initial sharpness and fruity flavours, but soon underlying malt and caramel sweetness come through. Fruit and malt in the finish as well. Didn’t think much of this at first, but I’ve grown to like it.

[33cl bottle from Beer52.] An attractive chestnut coloured pour with a tight cream head; aroma of caramel and malt; sweet malty taste with a gentle touch of spice; and a satisfying caramel finish. Smooth and soothing.

Bottle from The Curious Hop, Otley. Pours an almost clear mahogany colour with a medium sized throthy beige head. Aromas of dark fruits, caramel, light roasty notes, a little bready and a little brown sugar. Taste is similar notes again. Light to medium bodied, smooth slightly oily mouthfeel with a fruity, caramel, bready and sweetish finish. Nice beer, better than the average Dunkel.

On tap at a restaurant. Looks like a dunkles, head is decent. Aroma lightly sweet with a hint of malt. Flavor is a bit flat, lightly sweet with some hints of roast, dry and a bit thin overall. Better than the dunkles Weißbier of ABK, at least...
