330ml bottle. Nice roasted flavours complementing a great porter blend. Will look out for this again.

Bottle from Asda. Clear, dark, conker brown. Bubbly, but lasting, beige head. Liquorice. Cocoa. Prune. Light ash. Taste is ash dry. Date sweet, too. Some rum and raisin chocolate on the palate. Dry finish. Some bitterness at the end. Acorn do know how to brew a tasty, dark beer.

Cask at Kelham Island Tavern, Sheffield. Dark, almost black pour with a reddish hue. Big frothy tan head. Nutty aroma with a smooth malty liqourice taste. Little bitterness and nothing on the palate, just pure smoothness all the way. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Cask at the Cask, Pimlico - 19/10/12. Very dark mahogony brown approaching black with a decent tan head. Roast malt nose. Big roast malt taste, light chocolate and a little smoke. Medium bodied leading to a dry and roasted finish. A well made porter.

Retro review from Spring 2012 Wetherspoons Beer festival; deep black, great mouth feel, complex roast malts, one of the better ones from JDW.

500ml bottle. Clear darkest brown with average, creamy to frothy, minimally lacing, off-white to beige head. Minimally sweet and roasty dark malt aroma, a touch of coffee. Very soft palate. Taste is minimally sweet dark malty with dry, roasty notes, a touch of chocolate and a constant bitter hoppy overtone. Nice.

Dark brown, slight ruby light through edges of glass, light tan creamy head, good lacing
Aroma - roasted malt, light chocolate
Taste - roast malts, coffee, mainly bitter roast, background of bitter hops, some burnt crust, bit earthy
Palate - very soft carb, thin to medium body. Finish - lingering coffee and bitter roast malt
Overall - Over burnt bitter linger...reasonable beer...wasn’t overly impressed with this

500ml bottle - pours black with a respectable white head that laces down the glass. Espresso aroma, smoky and liquorice first taste, with an oily mouthfeel. Bitter after taste that holds for well over a minute a sip. It deserves a chance if you see it and are wondering "should I buy it?"... I would.
