Bottle from Tesco, Brighouse. Very dark reddish-brown with no head. Has a good aroma with a fair roasted malt here, and whilst it is similar in taste, itโ€™s lesser stated here. Has a very drinkable texture.

Cask at Pilgrims Progress (JDW), Bedford. Extremely dark brown, almost opaque. Smallish cream/tan head. Slate, coffee, hazelnut and vanilla in the aroma. Taste has a chocolatey sweetness, tempered by a well-judges amount of bittering hop. Chalky, medium dry palate with more coffee, and hot buttered toast. Very very good.

Cask at the Market Porter. It pours deep ruby-brown with a sturdy light tan head. The nose is rich roast, burnt toast, salted liquorice, cocoa and coffee grounds. The taste is toasty, earthy roast, coffee grounds, charred wood, pepper, mild caramel sweetness, light acidity and some liquorice. Medium body and fine carbonation. Robust and well-rounded. A quality cask porter.
