2020 bottle. Dark brown. Aroma has a lot of coffee, getting into those pepper notes. Soft body, has a light coffee accent. That's died off a bit. Still some sugars. There's also a bit of barrel, some heat from the barrel, and whiskey but it's not a rich whiskey character.

Poured from 341mL bottle (bottled 2020-05-26; lot 002; thanks Derek & JF). Very dark brown with small beige head. Nose has a bit of green pepper, taste is roasty, light Jameson undertones (fairly timid, soft booziness) , slight oxidation. Decent, but not a great Peche Mortel version.

2020 vintage. 341mL bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out that cheap Jameson character, oxidation, and the nice medium roast coffee underneath. Flavour is rather oxidized, with medium roast coffee, low-quality whiskey a la Jameson, and moderate roasted malt. Cheap barrels and gentle oxidation on top, with the nice coffee and malts underneath. I don’t understand why Dieu du Ciel would put their high-quality imperial coffee stout in a cheap whiskey barrel. Not one of the finer Peche Mortels. The good elements here are due to the base, while the barrel (and age) takes this down a few pegs.

[2020 Vintage] 341mL bottle. Pours very dark brown with a small beige head. Lots of green pepper along with some roasted malt on the nose. Flavour has coffee, roasted malts, and some jameson whiskey on the side. I mean the base beer is excellent, but I can't figure out why they put it in Jameson barrels. It just adds a bit of cheap whiskey without increasing the depth or quality of the beer.

Bottle. Irish whiskey in the nose, spicy vanilla, chocolate, coffee. Nice whiskey flavor coming through. Crisp, lovely balance. Really nice and better put together than the bourbon version.

Dieu du Ciel x Jameson Peche Mortel 9.5% Deep inky black with a wispy rusty tan foam. Big seeet Jameson aroma. Full bodied smooth with a wafer caramel bourbon flavor. Sweet but balanced with a hint of smoke. Lovely soft complexity and approachability.

Jet black brown with a rich light brown head. Coffee, bourbon barrel and sweetness. Bitter, coffee, sweet, chocolate and a nice light barrel hit. Solid.

(341ml bottle shared by Luc @ his place, Oct 19/19) Black pour with a dark tan head. Expected deep, moderately sweet and quite roasty dark malt notes of normal PM matched by a somewhat subdued coffee fraction but strong wood and moderate whisky, chocolate, some earth, touches of umami, light alcohol and spirit warmth, medium-plus body with nice soft carbonation. A good variant where the rather unsung Jameson barrel does a nice job with the very competent base.
