Gose-style ale with Syrah Grapes aged in Oak Foeders

This is a rosé - and a gose - by any other name. Goses are Red is a stylish funky, crisp and tart gose ale inspired by the soft sweetness of a rosé wine. The refreshing wheat-based ale begins with some of the qualities you’d expect from a gose, including coriander spicing and a light saltiness to complement the tartness imparted by our house cultures. But the story doesn’t end there - it builds in complexity, thanks to time spent in an oak foeder and the addition of grapes, which impart a refreshing character and color.

Can. Hazy pink beer, slightly cherry tinge, small bubbly pale pink head, short lived. Palate is light, semi dry and has a good fine minerally crispness. Good savoury bite here, a light savoury bite, could be stronger but lets you know that this is a Gose. The Syrah grapes impart pomegranate and intense rose wine. Light crisp finish. My kinda Gose and yet, even here, they could have turned it up a notch. Good Gose. Tart, savoury, fruity and drinkable.

Can shared at Colin's lockdown tasting. A light hazed peachy pink coloured pour with a halo of white head. Aroma is floral, peach, hibiscus, sour, yogurt, raspberry. Flavour is composed of semi tart, mild pucker, raspberry, hibiscus.. Good. Palate is crisp and tart, highish carbonation.

16 oz. Aroma is SweeTarts, grapefruit, match heads. Pours hazy salmon-pinkish-red with a one finger off-white head that falls into nothing pretty quickly. Taste is highly sour (8/10) with mucho saltiness; the grapes don't really come through all that much, but it is kind of reminiscent of rosé; I'm not sure if I would have thought that without looking at the label. Lip smacking, lip puckering, yummy stuff.

8/7/2020. Sample courtesy of the SHIG, cheers! Pours clear pale red with no head. Aroma of tart berries, summer fruits, touch of herb. Medium tartness, a little underlying sweetness and a touch of salt. Moderate body, average carbonation. Nice tart finish. Enjoyed this.
