Gose-style ale with Syrah Grapes aged in Oak Foeders

This is a rosé - and a gose - by any other name. Goses are Red is a stylish funky, crisp and tart gose ale inspired by the soft sweetness of a rosé wine. The refreshing wheat-based ale begins with some of the qualities you’d expect from a gose, including coriander spicing and a light saltiness to complement the tartness imparted by our house cultures. But the story doesn’t end there - it builds in complexity, thanks to time spent in an oak foeder and the addition of grapes, which impart a refreshing character and color.

--Canned at Bearbeer tasting. -- Clear pink, brief coarse head. Oaky citric nose with some white wine. Tart with slender body and clean mouthfeel. Citric and mildly salty, lots of oaky wine character.

Blisteringly tart, an unrelenting rush of acidic citrus and berry, backed up by a mild vinous note and a hint of oak. Pretty one-note; no different than a million other face-twisting uber-sours out there.

Very clear, perfectly crisp and light pink coloured body with a thinnish off-white head that fades very quickly and leaves nothing on top after a few seconds. Aroma of brine, tart cherries, light apples, a bigger dose of bread and yeast than expected and a dry grassiness in the nose, all with a moderate amount of sugars and floral notes. Light-bodied; Very crisp and dry fruity bite at first with a ton of tart cherry fruits and hibiscus flowers with some brine and salty aspects here with some crisp notes throughout, but very easy-drinking and some lighter wheat at the very end. Aftertaste shows some flowers, cherries, lemons and citrus fruit with a tiny bit of complexities from seemingly spontaneously fermented yeasts, but very clean, super crisp and easy-drinking throughout. Overall, a very nice, dry, tart, floral and easy-drinking beer with tons of complexity and not much body and depth here - this is a good beer for the style with a light malt note and some softer fruits, but a lot of flavours throughout. I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Mom's Organic Market in Alexandria, Virginia on 28-February-2021 for US$3,99 sampled at my house here in Washington on 08-July-2021.
