Kveik is a collective term for a family of Yeast strains from the area formerly known as Hordaland in Norway. They are renowned for fermenting very quickly and cleanly. We wanted to try one of these strains for a hazy, hoppy IPA using a juicy trio of Citra, Galaxy and Mosaic Hops. The beer is light in colour and bursting with flavours of Pineapple, Peach and Grapefruit. Intense tropical fruit flavours of Lychee and Guava resonate throughout and it finishes with a gentle bitterness.

Can. Hazy orange gold beer, small bubbly pale cream colour head. Palate is pretty light and mildly dry and has a decent fine minerally carbonation. Light malts, a nice light sweetness. A bare whisper of grain. Light bright fresh orange hops - nice. Touches of tangerine and mandarin and a whisper of peel. Light semi dry crispy finish. Simple stuff but done well.

Can. Wine Rack, Sharrow, Sheffield. Thick, dark orange gold. Dense and lasting, semi lacing, just off white foam. Weird that Stu’s had no head on it? Nose has a slightly sweaty, estery, note that I seem to get from Kveik yeast. Lots of ripe stone fruit. Pulped ripe orange. Spicy malt backdrop. Taste is pretty sweet with a ripe citrus bitterness. Medium body. A little slick. Fine carbonation. Light lingering bitterness to finish. Tasty gear.

440ml can from Thornbridge Brewery (Beer Club) - Mucky orange body, no head. Big robust fruity nose, taste backs this up with sharp tangy stone fruits, and syrupy tropical fruit. Good rich mouthfeel, long citrus bitterness at the end.
