From Good Times Oakland, best before 2026 05 08
so pretty darn fresh.
It pours a clear gold, lots of bubble action, good head of foam, very good retention and lacing.
The smell is big on grain, on the sweet side, wee bit of hop bitterness, is the sweet partly due to honey? Why bother with that?
Same goes for the taste. Nothing different from the smell.
Good mouthfeel, I would not bother drinking this again.

500ml can from Mirage Wine & Liquor (Palm Springs). Drank by the pool at our Air B&B on 15th April 2025. Really enjoyed this, poured clean and clear gold colour, white crown on top. Malty front with a pleasant hop presence that gave a nice balance; although this like most in the style is fairly sweet in nature rather than bitter.

Bottle. Another really great malty beer. I'm happy to see more malt instead of hops

Pour is a crystal clear amber with a large frothy white head. Aroma is brown bread and fresh cut grain. Flavor is the same. Fresh baked bread with a lot of fresh milled grain. This was clean, and wonderful liquid bread.

AROMA: Moderately sweet with moderate scents of caramel, malt, and biscuits which is then followed by hints of lemon and hay. It's a very rewarding aroma that makes me want to dive right into the tasting.
APPEARANCE: Pours a transparent medium gold with a 4-fingers tall, white head whose froth has small, tightly-knit bubbles which dissipate slowly with excellent lacing. This is a great looking beer in my clear Pilsner glass.
TASTE: Moderately sweet with ample flavors of malt and honey, followed by hints of caramel and bread. I have to admit that this does not taste like the typical festival beer. It has some sweetness (like most festival beers), but there is also a touch of refreshing bitterness that keeps the sweetness level down without actually tasting bitter. A neat trick that has been expertly executed!
MOUTHFEEL: This is on the borderline between medium-bodied and full-bodied. The texture starts off smooth with a touch of creaminess. However, due to the bitterness level, about half-way through, it loses its creaminess component. Carbonation is slightly above average. The finish is surprisingly crisp and semi-dry with just a hint of that honey flavor lingering until the very end. Which I find to be a welcome change from the typical festival beers.
OVERALL: The more I sip on this beer, the more I like it. What's crazy is that I wasn't really expecting much from it, and now it has become my favorite non-Märzen beer that I've tried this season. I think what has really hooked me is the perfect balance of sweet and bitter, where you get both, but neither is overwhelming. Additionally, it has a nicely balanced mouthfeel that is smooth, yet crisp without being overly dry. And I guess that's what it all comes down to ... balance!. Rarely have I had a beer that is so well balanced in all regards (aroma, taste, mouthfeel). My hat is off to the brewer for this delightful concoction!
