A near black, massively dry hopped IPA. It gives off huge floral, tropical fruit and spicy aromas exciting even the biggest of hop heads. Balanced with caramel malt flavour.

Pours very dark brown from the bottle and leaves a creamy tan head that lingers. Aroma is pine, resin, grapefruit, very hoppy and quite tilted towards the IPA side. Close your eyes and your unlikely to get any sense that this is a black IPA. The dark notes are very much masked. Taste is bitter with a fruity undertone and doesn’t change at all on the swill. Body is light to medium with a balanced carbonation. On the whole this one feels unbalanced too me — the strong dose of hops never really gives the roasted caramel flavors a chance to develop. But still, not a bad beer.

On tap. Pours black with light retentive head. Aromas of sugary dark fruit and light dusty roasted malts. Flavors of candied tropical fruit, pine, and light roasted malts. Nice but typical PNW black IPA with pronounced hop forward attitude. Not much on black roastiness so off balance.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a very dark copper with a beige head. Aroma and taste are roasted malt and piney hops. Burnt malt and hoppy bitterness aftertaste. Very good balanced Black IPA.

Bottled 355 ml (BDLX)
Dark brown color, small beige head. At first nose has some cloack but then licorice, coffee and some vegetables. Medium-bodied. Licorice, coffee, some citrus hoppyness. Nice roasted maltyness. Could be a bit more fresh but still ok.

Mørk brun med lavt beige skum. Lukter trevirke, vanilje og noe melkesjokolade. Smaker bitter brent karamell, søtlig mot karamell os sirup. Middels lang, brent søtlig avslutning

Medium brown, bubbly head. Aroma is quite minty, grapefruity and a little bit toasty. This is bitter, grapefruit rind, sweetish toasty malts. Finishes with nice sweetness.
