Can from De Bierliefhebber. Aroma is roasted malt with cocoa, dark chocolate, tangy dark fruit, liquorice, unexpectedly light bourbon, and a touch of molasses. Flavour is medium sweet with a solid roasty bitterness. Body is medium to full. A fine roasty Stout, though the bourbon is a lot less expressive than I hoped for.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Yoav's place. Black. Roast, chocolate, some wood, a bit of bourbon, sweet, umami touch, light sourish hint, a bit of bitterness.

330ml bottle shared with Mike. Hazed dark appearance, good tan head. Dark chocolate and roast on the nose, light bourbon. Pillowy chocolate on the palate, seamlessly integrated bourbon, not too prominent and sweet. Fairly light on the palate with nutty malt and almond coming through on the close. Quite nice.

Can from Hoptimism. Sweet boozy aroma - dark fruit, liqourice, charcoal and vanilla. Dark and glossy. Creamy tan head soon shrinks. Roasty bitter with a boozy edge and underlying sweetness. Thick bodied. Creamy. Low key fizzy carbonation. Long dry astringent finish. An interesting array of taste and aroma that envelops the mouth.

17 August 2019. At Gents Bierfestival X. Cheers to Anke, Kevin & the crew! Hazy black with a lasting, very thin, frothy, beige head. Aroma of coffee ground, wood, earth, dried fig, fondant, bourbon, macadamia. Taste is medium malty sweet, dried dark fruits (raisin, fig) pairing with bittersweet mocha, chocolate powder, supported by an earthy character of espresso, toast & an umami edge. Dry, toasty, earthy hoppy finish, lingering wood, vanilla & coffee, with a subtle bourbon-like glow; some coffee liqueur as well. Medium to full body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Surprisingly 'drinkable' Imperial Stout, well-balanced.

No head to speak of; jet-black fluid. Bourbon obvious if not overpowering, wood, peat, chocolate, ganache. Dry, yet sweet taste with liquorice, and again discreet Bourbon. I Haagse Hopjes, drop /I in the finish. Very rich, alcoholwarming, but a bit... dull, dead. Not bad, good points for the restraint.
