1l bottle. Unclear amber with a foamy head. Roasted malt, lemon zest, orange zest, dark bread, grassy hops, vanilla, DMS, slightly metallic, resinous. Dry hoppy bitterness, malty bready sweetness. Medium bodied, oily texture, soft carbonated, dry zesty grainy malty bittersweet finish. Nice as expected, more hop focused, than a normal Franconian Kellerbier.

Tap at the brewery. Lovely hop nose, grass, herbs, orange blossoms. Grassy, herbal flavor, yeast, oranges, herbal, fruity, flowery. Lovely hops and esters here. Crisp, with nice medium carbonation. Great hop-driven kellerbier.

(swing top bottle, 100cl) Slightly hazy, bright amber colour with a big and slowly lacing off-white foamy head. Mildly buiscuity and buttery malty aroma with notes of caramel, honeydew and flowery and delicately spicy hops in the background. Balanced sweet-bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Robust malty base with notes of caramel, biscuits, bread crusts, subtle honey-fruity hints, as well as mildly spicy hops in the background; lasting sweet-bitter and slightly buttery malty finish. A very pleasant rural brew. 10.IX.18

Aroma is fine berries, gummy bears and fruity hops, slight caramel and juice. Taste is slight metallic gummy bears with fruit and not much else. Quite thin. Not bad though.

Bottle, many thanks to pivnizub & MoritzF! Hazy amber-copper color with white head. Aroma is gummy bears, light caramel, honeymelon. Taste is gummy bears, cereal, minerals, herbal hops, light honey. Like the Zwickel, on the sweeter side, but it works. Oily, a bit sticky mouthfeel, natural carbonation. Very good!

Fläschla (1000ml, label says 5.1%, P12): Light amber coloured, a bit unclear, small but stable loose off-white head; moderate sweet-bitter nose of bread, herbal-medical hops and miel du bois with a slight malty-rural background; moderate sweet-bitter flavour, light bodied, very soft; lingering sweet-bitter honeyish-malty-bready finish with a well embedded bitterness. Extremely well drinkable franconian stuff. An archetypal example of this great region...
