Sample at Billie’s, Saturday. It’s incedibly sour, puckering, also quite dry, with a hint of acetic acid. The fruity character is subdued, it stays in the background.

Pours dark purple. No real head. Scent is tart, blueberry, fruity, not overly complex, but certainly alright. Taste is tart, rather fruity, sharp, fairly complex, more than decent. Medium carbo.

Sour ale of mixed fermentation, fruited with blueberries and named after the appearance our planet gives when seen from outer space. Sample at BCBF. Tiny, off-white bubbles loosely gathering around the edge but no real head, hazy ruby red robe with bronze glow. Aroma of ripe and actual blueberry but also raspberry and sour cherry, cassis touch even, sour yoghurt, old wood, kefir, pomegranate, red wine vinegar, sweat. Lots of fruit acidity in the onset, lactic sourness enhanced strongly by blueberry acids, effects of rhubarb, red plum and raspberry; medium carb with slender mouthfeel. Lots of drying lactic and fruity sourness push through a thinnish cereally core, with slight umami-ish aspects popping up near the end (green tomato, cucumber) and the more sedate and soft, lactic sourness eventually taking over from the much sharper blueberry acidity. Well-balanced fruit sour, though from mixed fermentation, as claimed, I tend to expect a bit more depth and complexity – this is not a kettle sour, after all…
