Can shared in Hackney - picked up at the brewery. Pours clear brown with a slender, creamy tan cap. The nose holds earth, well toasted malts, burnt grass Nd cocoa. Light to medium sweet flavour with mild ashy roast, more burnt grass, scorched earth, bitter dark chocolate. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Light warmth in the finish, more toothy bitter cocoa, scorched earth, bitter grass. Good, sturdy impy stout.

Tried at the breweries tap room in Bermondsey. Deep chocolate to black colour with a thick and creamy tan head. Aroma is chocolate and roasted malty coffee. Taste light sweet to mid roasted bitter. Full rich smooth and creamy body. Very drinkable.

Keg at the brewery. Opaque dark brown beer, good tan head. Palate is smooth and airy, strong fine carbonation. Smooth dark malts, some earthy coffee and liquorice. Slightly bitter fruits underneath. Light dry finish leaves a liquorice linger. Tasty and on keg, very well carbonated.

Keg at Affinity. It pours jet black with a decent beige head. The aroma is rich roasted malt, intense, umami, liquorice, cocoa, oily, dark fruits, earth and dark chocolate. The taste is bitter - sweet, chewy, salted caramel, cocoa, umami, peppery spice, rocky road, charred wood, liquorice and a touch of alcohol with a drying, toasty finish. Medium - full body and fine, foamy carbonation. Pretty flavoursome and drinkable. Nice chuggable double stout.
