Goldings, Fuggles and American Cascade hops. Crisp, citrus hop aroma. Balanced, bittersweet finish. Strong and very memorable.

Cask at the White Swan, Solihull. Poured a clear light amber with a frothy white head. The aroma is malt light hop. The flavour is medium bitter with a smooth chewy malt hop liqourice bitter palate and a long bitter finish. Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation. Totally different to the bottled version. There is so much more body to the cask derivative. Nightly drinkable.

Typical English bitter, malt forward beer that has a slight grassy, hay-like hop character. Fine but nothing special, forgettable.

Bitter beer, with a subtle fruity note. But mostly it’s bitterness with some grainy malt. It’s no IPA though, the name on the bottle is wrong.

Bottle sample at a tasting at avrashi’s place. Thanks kerenmk. Clear golden. Skunky aroma with a bit of malt. Flavor has light maltiness, skunky hops and some slightly harsh bitterness. Medium-bodied. Damn those clear glass bottles.

Gold, mostly clear with a little head. Aroma surprisingly faint, slight tropical fruit but little else. Taste is an uninspiring bitter. It’s like drinking beer with a bad cold: you get the essence of beer but not the minutae. Shame that Marston’s beers have become so pedestrian. What is to blame? The ’fast cask’ conditioning, my jaded palette, or just the inevitable outcome for a macro?  Oh fallen queen of Burton on the Trent; Your glory gone: I wonder where it went?

A surprise find at Dva Tona Bar, Split, shared with heavy. Clear bottle - what the hell is wrong with these people... Anyway, misty honey colour with a small white head. Peach jam aroma, maltiness. Fresh peach jam in the taste, surrounded by lemon, with a herbal bitter hops & honey finish. Quite clean, apart from some weak socks here and there. Actually not as bad as I expected, since I didn’t approach it expecting an IPA.

From a 50 cl bottle shared at Ryan’s courtesy of Chris. Pours a clear gold with an off white head. Malty nose. Strong malt backbone with a soft hop finish.
