Bottle from HoTM. It pours clear deep rich brown with a small beige cap. The aroma is toasty malts, brown bread, bitter - sweet, dried fruits, fruit cake, chocolate, cookie dough, light spice, toasted brown sugars, cakey malts and pain au raisin. The taste is bitter - sweet, brown bread, dried fruits, fruit cake, pain au raisin, custard, hearty malts, cookie dough, toasty, slight earthy, light tannin, nip of spice and a touch of alcohol with a drying, toothy finish. Medium+ body and fine, foamy carbonation. Lovely balance to it. Moreish and very drinkable.

Bottle online from 'The Trembling Madness'. Pours an almost clear mahogany brown colour with a medium sized beige head. Aromas of roasted malts, dry dark fruits, chocolate and burnt brown bread. Taste is similar with added notes of caramel, nuts, molasses and brown sugar. Starts roasty with a sweet finish. Medium body, low carbonation and smooth oily mouthfeel. Nice Doppelbock.

Bottle at home, from HOTM online, 18/12/20. Rich mahogany brown with a reddish glint topped with a well presented beige cap ... good looker. Nose is nutty, toffee, dates, dried fruits, brown sugar coating. Taste comprises dark malts, light spice, fruit cake, almonds, toffee, brown bread, figs. Medium bodied with a bite, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a kiss of balanced alcohol. Decent Bock.

Quick half @ Hereford Beer House. Pours hazed mahogany, well-appointed off-white head atop. Pleasant grainy malt aroma. Taste is smooth with nice chewy malt, caramel, cello resin, gentle spice hints. Comes together well with an appealing sweetness. Very good.

500ml bottle from 'Beers of Europe': BB 6th May 2020. Poured into an old 'Schultheiss' glass at home on 29th Mar 2020. Clean and clear mahogany body, lasting beige head. Sweet and malty with a barely hidden alcohol kick, nowhere near the best Doppelbock I've had, but I really enjoyed this.
