Die Kraft des dunklen Malzes wird mit der blumigen Fruchtigkeit von Zitrus, Johannisbeer und tropischen Früchten gekonnt balanciert.

Dark, dark brown with a frothy, beige head. Aroma quite hoppy for a bock, lime and pine on top with a malty, dark chocolate undertone. Not bad, although lacking somewhat in harmony. Taste is herbal bitter with mild roasted tones. Finishes the same with, again, a dose of lime that feels out of place for the style. Maybe I just can’t make the mental leap.. Full bodied, very smooth, mostly mild carbonation. Ok.

At the brewery. Dark red, coffee chocolate. Could be a tad more hoppy, and a tad more round. Easy.

Dark brown. Aroma is floral hops dense melasses herbal hops toffee light dried fruit. Taste is sweet melasses forward malty body with a huge bitter herbal hops bite. Incredibly hoppy and herbal for such a dark (and traditional) beer. Full bodied and long melasses and hoppy finish. That's a flavour bomb!

Flascherl (Gruesse gen Garching!!!): Deep ruby-amber coloured, clear, lively carbonation, medium-sized creamy and stable tanned head, rich aroma of herbal and flowery hops, dark malt and toasted malt with a (distinctive) pinch of freshly ground coffee; moderate to solid dryish bitter-sweet flavour, full bodied and astonishingly soft; dry and lingering herbal (and a bit piney) finish, repeating all the aromas from the beginning: toasted malt, dark malt, coffee and chocolate. Hats off! A new generation of Bavarian Doppelbocks! Devilishly drinkable...

Bottle. Hazy brown color with beige head. Aroma is sticky hops. Taste is grassy, chocolate, very hoppy. Oily mouthfeel with natural carbonation. Good one, but VERY hoppy!

Bottle courtesy of Munich Dave or Jonas, I am so sorry guys I have forgotten which one of you passed this on, anyway cheers to you both. Had this Saturday 27th March 2021 we had Prawn Taquitos with Spicy Avocado Salsa and Smokey Stuffed Peppers for tea and watched some 6Music Festival performances on the big screen. Pours dark chocolate brown with an off white creamy textured head and a little ruby glint that the light catches. Hoppy and fruity nose some dark fruit skins, a touch resinous. Quite fresh tasting, malty characteristics are present but hoppiness surprisingly on an equal footing. Nice beer, it's easy to forget these guys are in town, I've been to the brewery just the once but most of the beers that I have had have been pretty decent.

Bottle.Light cloudy dark red amber, golden brown lacing cream. Flowery and fruity hoppy aroma. Bitter grassy and piney notes, creamy mouthfeel, some caramel sweetness, pralines, light grainy, medium full body, mellow chewiness, Hop-aromatic finish - the most hoppy Doppelbock I had in a while.
