From the jungles of Jamaica to the barrel room at Firestone Walker Brewing Company comes Dark & Stormy—an exotic mashup of Helldorado and Velvet Merkin aged in rum barrels with a touch of hand-zested lime and ginger. Like its namesake cocktail, Dark & Stormy combines a rich sunset color with spicy rum goodness. Helldorado (blonde barleywine, 80%) sets the tone with its signature honey-coconut character, while Velvet Merkin (oatmeal stout, 20%) rounds out the blend with a hint of rich roastiness. Both beers were aged in barrels sourced from a leading Jamaican rum producer, imbuing Dark & Stormy with delectable rum qualities unlike anything Firestone Walker has offered before.

12 oz. bottle, pours a deep dark mahogany with a small white head. Aroma is loaded with rum barrels upfront, almost smelling like a rum n coke, with ginger and lime to top it off. Flavour is along the same lines, with lots of astringent rum, a little cola, and a touch of lime. Just like a rum n coke cocktail with a nice rum. Surprising that FW would attempt something like this. I can't say I like it, but it's inoffensive.

Golden-amber. This has a very rich, buttery artificial rum aroma, with a light ginger beer note. On the palate, super sweet and artificial buttery note. There's a bit of ginger, maybe some lime. Too artificial, this rum character.

375Ml. for $9 at the local store. dark burgundy brown with some maroon. no head at all. smells like spiced rum, ginger root, banana, brown sugar, booze. Very thick, no carbonation at all. just tastes like a dark & stormy and it's a drink I really don'e like but that is exactly what it is and the lingering ginger and lime and booze.. ugh.

Keg at MBCC 2018 Yellow (session Juan), 11/05/18. Rich amber with a decent beige cap. Nose is rum barrell, toffee, sweet malts, light spice, fruit loaf. Taste comprises caramel, rum time tinged, dried red berries, brown sugars, light spice. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Ok but expected a touch more from a FW BA strong.
