1 & 2 years old lambic with Dornfelder grapes. This beer is inspired by the pet nat style (petillant natural) that is known in the wine world. It's a fruity & funky glou-glou beer.

11 September 2021. At Summer Belgian Beer Geek Gathering. Many thanks, Klaas & Liesbeth, cheers to the whole crew!

Vintage 2020. Hazy red, thin, pink head. Aroma of sour cherry, blue grape, lemon peel, rhubarb, earth, old raspberry coulis, bit dirty. Taste has sour cherry, grape & lemon, somewhat funky with vinegar touch. Tart, red-fruity finish, earthy & acidic with obvious woody tannins. Medium body, slick texture, soft carbonation. Very vinous and that's an achievement, but a bit too much to my taste.

Pours dark purple, small white head. Scent is soft, fruity grapes. Not to rich on the lambic character. Taste is very mellow, easy drinker. Soft tartness. Full grapes (fruity) , low tartness. Nice!

Bottle @ Belgian Summer Gathering Sept' 21, Evergem. Merci Tim, Anno 2020. Bottled 22/11/2020.

0,75l from bottle at Gebrande Winning. Vintage 20. Purple color, small pink head. Smells super grape forward, marzipan, tannins, spices, hints of vanilla, lightly peppery. Lovely smell. Full body, no carbonation. Tastes grapes, red wine, tannins, spices, marzipan. Finishes lightly dry with hints of acidity and notes of red wine, marzipan and some tannins. Lovely lovely one, super wine forward, great to drink, this would be super awesome to try in a year or two

Another Bofkont grape lambic, this time with the dark, deep German Dornfelder variety; sampled at Wild in Groningen. Pale lilac, moussy, open but otherwise stable head on a dark wine red beer with glowing fuchsia hue, clear initially, misty with sediment. Aroma of halfsweet and 'dark' Dornfelder juice, cassis, blue plums, vanilla-like oak, sweat, minerals, Camembert cheese, lambrusco, blueberries. Crisp onset, softish malic acidity, apple- and blueberry-like next to the evident 'grapeyness' itself, finely tingling lambrusco-like carbonation, smooth vinous mouthfeel; supple bready core, completely soaked in grape with that dark berry-like fleshiness to it, grape skin and wood tannins becoming quite strong in the end (more so than in the Merlot version) with a clear oakiness and light herbal aspects finishing things off. Complex, dry but still juicy, bit spicy grape lambic, indeed very reminiscent of the Dornfelder lambics 3 Fonteinen made in their Twists of Fate series; a bit more astringent and demanding than the lovely smooth Merlot version perhaps, but still remaining gentle and elegant. Bofkont deserves the hype, as far as I am concerned - if only these bottles weren't so damn hard to find.

My first Bofkont, lucky me. Gorgeous deep red, dark pink head. Smells grapey. Taste is lightly sour, and very dry. The grapes come through well, and there's something lightly meaty in there as well. Interesting, fun, tasty!
