330 ml bottle. Pours black with moderate tan head. Aromas of sweetened coconut, chocolate syrup, vanilla, dark berries, and slick roasted malts. Flavors of mocha, dark chocolate, dry coconut, sweet dark berries (almost jammy) and rich roasted malts. A very good coconut pastry stout.

One of my recent acquisitions from one of various Belgium beer shops recently. This one touches a number of bases for me, imperial stout and coconut, high abv. All good. 33 cl bottle found in a beer store in Norway, fortunate for me. A pour inside of one of my regional beer glasses to see a mahogany liquid finished by a full skim of cedar brown foam, never decreasing. Take a drink, ah, interesting. Straw, coconut with emphasis, malt and cocoa. Can’t say that the coconut is normal tasting, it is not, sort of out there. All said, the beer is fine. Chocolate, malt and unsure-origin coconut.Good to have an impy stout, back in the world now.

Very good dark beige head over black beer. Coconut, copra, coconutmat a mile out. Coconutcream apéritif. Coconut, black chocolate, alcohol, fusels, dark/chocolate malts. Very slick, viscous, oily. Alcoholheat. OK, but very hard on the coconut indeed. Thanks to Stef!

Black, tan head. Sweet deep roasted chocolate malts, massive coconut, cosmetic coconut cream product. Sweet, parfumey and bitter. Over medium body and soft carb. Beetje strontvlieg ook. Heb t desondanks volledig naarbinnen geschoven. Raar spul.

Bottle shared thanks to sjogro. Black with brown head. Creamy coconut, dried berries, sweet chocolate, light sweaty, marzipan, raw cocoa, light earthy. Solid sweet, light bitter. Full bodied. OK but not great.

28 August 2021. At Bier van Ollier Festival, Sijsele. Cheers to Anke, mom, dad & Dirk!

Cloudy black, stable, frothy, beige head. Aroma of coco flakes, coco biscuit, milk chocolate with coconut (Bounty), vanilla, prune, sweet cherry, mocha, vague whisky. Taste has sweet prune, cherry & raisin in a chocolate-malty body, accents of coconut & vanilla, some bitterish mocha with an edge of nuts. Herbal hoppy finish, bit spicy, toasted coco flakes, (dark) chocolate sauce and warming whisky-like alcohol. Full body, creamy texture, average carbonation. In-your-face coco Pastry Stout, just great.

27/VIII/21 - 33cl bottle from Bierhalle Deconinck (Vichte), shared @ summer holiday in France, BB: 11/V/24 (2021-975)

Pretty clear dark brown to black beer, creamy dese brown head, pretty stable, adhesive, leaving some lacing in the glass. Aroma: lots of coconut all right, good roast, some coffee, bit metallic (foam on hand test). MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: nice, quite some coconut, alcohol, good roast, some chocolate, bit sweet, good stuff. Aftertaste: roasted, pretty sweet, Bounty candy bars, nice stuff, really like it, despite the metallic touch.

New addition to the range of strong Brambrass stout – and this time Bram apparently ventures into pastry stout territory… Creamy, shred-lacing, dark mocha-beige, opening head on a pitch black beer. Aroma of coconut, coconut and coconut – a lot of coconut extract went in here, and it shows, this smells like the inside of Bounty candy or something alike, complete with a hint of that cheesy old coconut flesh even, supported by impressions of melting mocha ice cream, cooked blackberry juice, chestnut, toffee, milk chocolate, cognac, ripe pear. Sweet onset, candied cherries and blackberry coulis, ripe pear, medium carb with full and smooth, slick body; thick toffeeish and chocolatey malt layers, sweet and even a tad sticky, under a very thick layer of coconut aroma – a coconut icing on the cake, as it were. Still, and luckily so, the finish also brings some roasty coffee bitterness and leafy hop bitterness, keeping things interesting and distracting from all that sweetness; that said, all those layers of coconut, chocolate and toffee sweetness do maintain the upper hand, absorbing the sharpest edges of a brandy-like booziness in the end. Bold and certainly not for everyone, but I just happen to like coconut aromas a lot so I cannot resist scoring this one highly. You really, really have to like coconut, though!
