Light in colour but heavy on flavour. Two big American hops battle it out for your attention.

The Last Tasting at Bruce’s palatial pad. Thanks to Leighton. Hazy gold beer with a small white head. Palate is airy with super fine carbonation. Light airy malt. Mellow orange hops with a touch of floral character. Finishes soft and airy. Fine, just lacks a bit of hop bite.

Bottle slpit at Bruce’s, thanks to Leighton, 19/09/13. Clear pale golden with a thin off white head that dissipates to a swirl. A few floaty friends also present in this number. Nose is bitter citric fruit, grapefruit, hops, toasted malts. Taste comprises bitter hop notes, orange pith, grapfruit, grass, toasted malts. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, dry finish with well balanced hop bittneress. Good stuff.

Bottle at Bruce’s, thanks to Leighton. It pours hazy amber-gold with some small particles and a white head. The nose is orange, tangerine, marmalade, sherbet, bitter-sweet and fruit salad sweets. The taste is bitter-sweet, pine, resin, orange, tangerine, grapefruit and light alcohol kick with a dry, bitter finish. Medium body and fine-medium carbonation. Nice vibrant orange character.

I had this at Brew by Numbers Brewery I think that I had this on tap, Saturday 17th August 2013 however I cannot recall if she poured from bottle or tap, (think tap) Hazy warm golden colour with white head. Citrussy nose and plenty of zippy citrus on the tongue, reasonably bitter but nice soft carbonation in the mouth. Good beer. A7 A3 T7 P4 Ov15 3.5

Bottle from the brewery drunk at home. Hazy orange gold with thin lasting white head. Some tangerine orange aroma. Touch of butter/toffee. Some fruity and bitter hop on the finish. It’s a bit too toffeeish for me for an IPA that makes me slap myself in the face. Finish is pretty decent. Yep, just a touch too much dominated by the malt. Leaves the hops a bit behind. Ok.

Bottle at home in London. Pours perfectly clear, rich gold with a modest, frothy white head. The aroma carries lots of pithy citrus, some grapefruit and orange, dashes of drying pine. Medium sweet flavor, some dry minerals, ripened citrus fruits, some stone fruits, mild piney resins, hints of alcohol. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Nice and restrained resinous pine in the finish, a bit more ripe citrus, a bit of earthy citrus rind, orange, some grapefruit, light sticky grass. Pretty solid depth and balance all around.
